Dr. Thomas Hendrickson has received the 2022 Charles Humphreys Award for Innovative Pedagogy from the American Classical League which recognizes excellence in teaching Classics and Classical Languages.
Dr. Hendrickson has brought numerous innovations to the Latin program at Stanford OHS, including the expansion of our spoken Latin and comprehensible input material at the elementary and intermediate stages; and the development of community-building techniques for synchronous and asynchronous online classroom environment. The publication project he launched, The Experrecta Series, has resulted in its first publication: The Passion of Perpetua, which has already been adopted in a number of classrooms.
The American Classical League, founded in 1919, celebrates, supports, and advances the teaching and learning of the Greek and Latin languages, literatures, and cultures, and their timeless relevance.
