Writing & Tutoring Center

Our Writing and Tutoring Center is dedicated to creating an academic community of strong and confident writers by supporting the academic success of our students across disciplines through labs, workshops, and peer tutors.

Writing & Tutoring Services

The Writing and Tutoring Center, founded in 2014, provides dynamic and varied academic support to students across all Stanford OHS disciplines.

In the WTC, we offer writing labs to support students in their writing-intensive Stanford OHS courses, weekly academic workshops, and interactive events led by professional writing instructors with experience teaching national and international students at secondary and post-secondary levels.

The WTC is also home to a robust, 100+ student Peer Tutor Program which provides individual, synchronous tutoring in all Stanford OHS courses and the Teaching Assistant Program, where students are mentored by expert instructors on a research project or teaching initiative.

For college-bound seniors, our experienced writing instructors offer guidance on all stages of the college essay writing process. WTC instructors support students through the College Essay Kick-Start summer course, individual tutoring on admissions essays, and group write-ins, where students polish their Common App and supplemental essay drafts.

In addition, the center oversees two student-run digital news publications, The Observer and Pixel Journal, providing students of all grade and skill levels opportunities to develop their voices and engage with the world around them.
