Landscape Drawing

A studio drawing course for high-school students of all skill levels with interest in drawing natural and constructed landscapes. Students will learn the elements of drawing and composition with a focus on landscape through demonstration, sequenced exercises, source information, and critiques using a variety of materials and techniques to capture a variety of elements, including mountains, desert, forest, ocean, city, and the fantastic. In addition, effects of weather, changing light, rain/clouds, and geological and natural phenomena such as volcanoes and tornadoes are covered. Students will further explore the rich tradition of landscape in art as well as its cultural and artistic relevance throughout history.
