Homerooms are an important way kick-off each week by informing students of upcoming OHS events, new opportunities, and upcoming community activities. Casual chemistry allows a cohort of students with a common interest in chemistry and science to gather in their homeroom. After announcements and providing support to students on any academic questions, the group will shift to a casual discussion of a topic in chemistry. Weekly topics include recent events, important history, and engaging topics from general, analytical, or organic chemistry. An optional one page reader or recent chemistry article will serve a jumping off point. For some students discussions may be review, for others discussions might open new doors, hopefully every discussion will have something new for each student. After discussion, students are welcome to hang-out for the last twenty minutes of the hour for individual support or just to dive deeper into the topics presented.
