This introductory course is designed for students with little to no prior exposure to Spanish. Students learn essential vocabulary, grammar, and cultural content through a variety of print, video, and interactive materials and by practicing the language extensively in class through simple communicative activities, conversations, and real-world tasks that reinforce understanding and build confidence. Students progressively develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while gaining an appreciation for the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through topics that include traditions, daily life, celebrations, and notable historical and artistic contributions. The course emphasizes active participation, consistent practice, and a supportive environment for language learning and academic growth.
