About Me
My name is Caroline, and I am a ninth grader at Stanford OHS from Lexington, Kentucky. I have been a student at Stanfored OHS for the past two years, but I was enrolled as a single course student last year. Spanish is my favorite subject, but my first love will always be History. I participate in various clubs including: the Female Empowerment Club, Political Pulse, and Speech and Debate. Outside of school, I love Legos, books, baking, and Jiu-Jitsu. I also enjoy scientific debates, and coin collecting.
Why I Chose Stanford OHS
I chose Stanford OHS because I wanted to be challenged and meet other people who shared my love of learning. I was at two different schools before Stanford OHS, but neither was a good fit for me. I applied to Stanford during 7th grade. Until then, I had been educated at local private schools that could not meet my academic needs. I sat in a classroom with nothing to do but read independently after finishing my work. I craved a challenge and peers to engage with in the classroom.
At Stanford OHS, I met so many incredible fellow students, and the classes are active, with vibrant discourse. The teachers push us to think critically and write clearly. I intend to graduate from Stanford OHS, because I believe it is an amazing school. Stanford OHS is challenging, fun, and a perfect fit for me.
What I Love About Stanford OHS
I love Stanford OHS because not only can I create my own schedule, but I am also challenged in a way I never was before at my brick-and-mortar schools. When I was at my old school, I spent almost every day sitting in a classroom with nothing to do once I finished my work. However, here at Stanford OHS, the classroom setting is engaging, fun, and challenging. I am no longer sitting there with nothing to do but wait.
Another thing I love about Stanford OHS is the ability to create my own schedule. I can do assignments whenever I want, and the class schedule allows me to pursue other interests during the school day, instead of staying up late for extracurriculars and homework. During my academic career, I attended three different schools, but I never felt like I belonged to any of them until now. Stanford OHS has been such an amazing experience for me, and I love everything about it.
