Lara Liu
Chemistry Instructor
Ms. Liu received her B.A. in Chemistry from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and her M.A. in Secondary Education from San Francisco State University. Her teaching journey began as an undergraduate at Wellesley, where she was invited as a sophomore to work as a teaching assistant for the organic chemistry labs. She has been teaching chemistry professionally since 1999, with experience across all levels of chemistry and also physics in two large districts in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In addition to her classroom teaching, Ms. Liu has also led science departments and district-wide chemistry curriculum development and written high school curriculum materials for Estes Model Rockets, integrating hands-on, experiential learning with core science concepts to make chemistry more engaging and accessible. Ms. Liu is passionate about making physical science understandable and enjoyable for all students, whether they see themselves as future scientists or simply want to better appreciate the world around them. Outside of teaching, she enjoys hiking, stargazing, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
